“Neysting” originates from the Faroese word for boathouse; “neyst”
and provides an authentic shelter experience in an original boathouse - in the midst of the raw nature of the North Atlantic.

We believe that Neysting offers a truly unique way of traveling. A movement towards nature, nurture and presence.

Dottet along the fjords and steeped in history, the Faroese boathouses are the key to understanding Faroese cultural history as they till this day tell the story of how Faroese for centuries lived from fishing in rowing boats.

The tracks and traces, patination and old fishing gear still present in the preserved boathouses take you right back in time.

BÁTABÓLIÐ awaits you

Inspired by the original Faroese rowboat that the boathouses once housed, we introduce BátaBólið.

Upon entering the boathouse, you are met with an object suspended in mid-air, as if floating in the middle of the space it occupies, which seems at once both familiar and entirely new. 

This is BátaBólið, a reinterpretation of the traditional Faroese fishing boat. In this alternative version, the ancient boat still occupies its original home, but is now transformed into a unique shelter for the modern traveler seeking an authentic place to stay, as close as possible to the natural elements of the North Atlantic.

We believe that Neysting offers a truly unique way of traveling. A movement towards nature, nurture and presence.

Neysting sees a need in the world for putting the brakes on rapid change and for reconnection. Reconnection with our own true selves, with our roots and with the raw elements of nature.

We also see a forseeken need to reconnect with and honor our cultural history and ancestry. Those who were here before us. Those who walked the same paths and felt the same feelings. Those who build our world with great valuable knowledge and made us who we are today.

We believe that we have a lot to learn from inherited traditions and ways in order to progress responsibly as a whole and to save the planet.

We believe that reconnection is necessary (!) in order to proceed life on earth in a responsible, caring, true and great way - personally and together.

THE EXPERIENCE

IMAGINE being rocked asleep in a therapeutic woolen tent to the sounds of ocean waves splashing against the shore. Whistling ocean winds and wild birds.

IMAGINE waking up in an original historic boathouse to the smell of woolen canvas and morning greetings from nearby sheep. Opening the doors to the view, smell and sounds of the North Atlantic Ocean and breathtaking mountain landscapes.

IMAGINE spending time with only your own self and the ever present nature of the North Atlantic, accompanied by cultural history whispering its original story in your ear and reminding you of what we once knew and how we once lived.

IMAGINE being able to take it all in, being fully present in the moment and having that sensation of… just knowing!
